Identity Management and BroncoAccount Activation

These instructions guide our Cal Poly Pomona community through the BroncoAccount activation process. You will need your BroncoNumber and Claim Code to continue:

BroncoAccount activation will confirm your identity, require you to accept Cal Poly Pomona’s Appropriate Use Policy, provide your BroncoName (username), set your BroncoPassword, create personalized secret security questions, and Set SMS Password Recovery. Secret security questions allow you to reset your password and SMS Password Recovery will send a BroncoPassword token to your mobile device to reset your BroncoPassword if necessary.

Campus Roles

Applicants and Students

Applicants, new students, or students returning after more than one year will receive their BroncoNumber and Claim Code from the Office of Admissions or an email from the College of Professional and Global Education. Activating your account allows you to access BroncoDirect, your portal for class scheduling, registration, grading, academic advisement, financial aid, and other services.

Employees

New faculty, lecturers, and staff receive information for activating their BroncoAccount when they complete their hiring paperwork with Payroll Services.

Auxiliary Staff and Sponsored Affiliates

Auxiliary staff will receive their BroncoNumber and Claim Code from Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services.

The IT Service Desk will contact Sponsored Affiliates to provide a BroncoNumber and Claim Code.

BroncoAccount Activation Instructions

Visit the Account Activation page:

  • Type your BroncoNumber and Claim Code and click Continue.
    • Your claim code is your birth date (YYMMDD).

Appropriate Use Policy

  • The CPP Appropriate Use Policy for Information Technology will appear.  You will need to read through the policy and click the "I Accept" button at the bottom of the page.
    • If you want a copy of the CPP Confidentiality Statement, click the Print button before clicking the "I Accept" button.

Your Password Reset Questions

Select the number of secret questions you'd like to create as protection for your BroncoPassword by choosing that number from the drop-down list. (three is the minimum, and five is the maximum)

Enter the appropriate number of questions along with the corresponding answers. (Choose from the list or by entering your own)

Click Continue and You have successfully set up your Secret Questions.

Set up SMS

  • If you would like to enable the SMS Text Message reset option, click the Set up SMS button.
  • SMS Password Reset allows you to send a password reset to your mobile device if you forget your BroncoPassword.

  • If your mobile phone number exists in BroncoDirect, you can select the Use Number in BroncoDirect option.
  • If the mobile phone number in BroncoDirect is incorrect or you prefer to use a different mobile phone number, select Use Other Phone Number and enter the ten-digit phone number.
  • Note: This option is not available to International mobile phones.

Identity Verification and Password Creation

  • Enter correct responses to all identity-verification questions.
  • Enter a BroncoPassword that meets the provided password guidelines.
  • Retype your BroncoPassword to ensure accuracy.
  • A green checkmark will appear to the right of the new password box if your BroncoPassword meets the requirements.
  • The account activation process is complete when you see the Success screen.
